Akerhuset 3 BR: Historic Farmhouse w/Chef's Kitchen Akerhuset 3 BR: Swedish Farmhouse w/Chef's Kitchen
Size –
3 Bedrooms • 4 Bathrooms (2 full, 2 half) 4 Baths (2 full, 2 half) • Sleeps 3-6Located just a short walk from downtown Lindsborg, Akerhuset (Swedish for "the Farm House") transports guests back to the family farm. In fact, the entire farm house was carefully moved from its original location north of town to where it rests today! Many locals, even a few TV reporters from Wichita, came out for this event!
Enter the farm house on Grant Street through the frosted-window front door at the rocker-filled front porch. After hanging up your coat and kicking off your shoes, you'll be in awe of the expansive chef's kitchen with a large island with bar stool seating for four. Designed by Brian Freeman, an historic beam was transformed into a huge lighting fixture over the chef's kitchen island. With plenty of cabinets and counter space, it's an easy task to whip up your favorite meals or a late-night snack. A bar-height table and chairs for four are nestled into the bay window next to the chef's kitchen. A half bath is near the back door.
Step through the original historic sliding doors into the farm house living room with a comfy sofa and chairs. This well-designed space is perfect for conversation and laughter while watching your favorite shows on Hulu+Live TV (no ads) on the Smart TV. The original historic double-hung windows provide plenty of sunshine on Kansas' best days.
A staircase to the lower level leads to two bedroom suites, each with a queen-size Casper mattress, armoire, desk, office chair and Smart TV. Each ensuite bathroom features a shower. The onsite laundry offers a stacked washer and dryer, with a drying rack and plenty of space for folding clothes and towels. The tornado shelter also serves as a secondary living area with comfy seats and yet another Smart TV.
The original wooden staircase in the farm house leads upstairs to more bedroom suites, each with a queen-size Casper mattress, armoire, desk, chairs and a Smart TV. The closets in each of the farm house bedrooms have been converted into half-baths. The second floor offers a dedicated shower-only room.
Sustainability is literally built into Akerhuset. The interior of the farm house is heated and cooled with high-efficiency electric heat pumps, often called minisplits, that are individually controlled with remote controllers. Appliances are Energy Star certified and plumbing fixtures offer low-flow efficiency. The recycling bin is in the kitchen. And yes, the City of Lindsborg recycles.

About the Owner
Hej du! Hello, my name is Jim Prugh. As you may have guessed, I am a big fan of Lindsborg, Kansas with its friendly townsfolk and small business owners.. Perhaps also because, according to DNA test results, I'm mostly Swedish! I was the first vacation-rental owner in the area and my properties began as an experiment to see if they would catch on. Fortunately they did and my properties are not warmly embraced by the local community. While I don't live in Lindsborg, I have been welcomed as a "local" who just happens to live elsewhere. When I'm not tending to my vacation rentals and extended stay properties, you will find me working in my real estate business, where I own and lease commercial spaces for small businesses and apartments or lofts for local residents. In my leisure time, I particularly enjoy genealogy (not a big surprise there!), traveling and hiking.Location
