Size –
1 Bathroom 1 Bath • Sleeps 2-4This second floor studio historic apartment exceeds expectations with high-quality, comfortable furnishings and an inviting vibe. Vetehuset-Plantera provides a home base on Lindsborg's historic Main Street while exploring this beautiful region or simply walking out the door to shops and galleries.
The 150-year-old Berquist and Nelson Drugstore Building, where Vetehuset is on the second floor, was awarded a listing on the National Register of Historic Places.
You’ll reach Vetehuset-Plantera (Swedish for “the Wheat House - Plant”) by taking the private elevator from the carport to the second floor. It is housed inside a structure, designed by Brian Freeman, mimics a grain elevator or wheat house, hence the name of the apartment. A lovely vestibule is the perfect spot to sip your morning coffee as you check your email or plan your day. The Berquist and Nelson Drugstore Building, where Vetehuset is on the second floor, was awarded a listing on the National Register of Historic Places.
Designed by Victoria Freeman, guests enter the studio apartment into a welcoming living room, where much of the historic floorplan has been honored and retained. The cozy sofa and two chairs form a lovely conversation area, while convenient coffee and end tables make it simple to enjoy a beverage or snack. You’ll love the unusual artwork created by a local artist. Boasting plenty of light, you’ll probably want to break out the novel you’ve been planning to read. Or you’ll decide instead to stream your favorite show or a movie on the Smart TV with Hulu+Live TV with no ads using our Gigabyte high-speed internet.
You’ll slumber in comfort and style in a king-size bed with a Casper mattress. The sleeping area is set apart from the living area, which creates a nice sense of separation and privacy not commonly found in most studio apartments. A closet with drawers is conveniently between the bed and bathroom.
A fully-equipped kitchen with full size stainless steel appliances and a quiet dishwasher is an unexpected pleasure at Vetehuset-Plantera. With plenty of cabinets and counter space, it’s an easy task to whip up your favorite meals, even a midnight snack.
A dining table for four is adjacent to the kitchen and offers a comfortable, relaxed dining experience for guests.
In the bathroom, you’ll find a door between the bathroom sink and the barrier-free walk-in shower and commode. The spacious laundry room features a front-loading washer and dryer, even a drying rack, that are shared with another vacation rental, Vetehuset-Skorda, next door.
While embracing its history, sustainability is literally built into Vetehuset-Plantera. The entire studio apartment is insulated for temperature and noise with insulation from recycled blue jeans. The interior is heated and cooled with high-efficiency electric heat pumps, often called minisplits. Appliances are Energy Star certified and plumbing fixtures offer low-flow efficiency. The recycling bin is found in the laundry room.
Prior to arrival, guests are provided with an entry code that will unlock the door to the elevator, hall and entry door. Be sure to lock the doors each time you leave Vetehuset-Plantera.

About the Owner
Hello, my name is Jim. As you may have guessed, I am a big fan of Lindsborg, KS for its friendly townsfolk and business owners. Perhaps also because, according to DNA test results, I’m 80% Swedish! I was the first vacation rental owner in the area and my properties began as a kind of experiment to see if they would catch on. Fortunately, they did and my properties are now warmly embraced by the local community. While I don’t live in Lindsborg, I have been welcomed into the community as a “local” who just happens to live elsewhere. When I’m not tending to my vacation rentals, you will find me working in my commercial real estate business, where I own and rent commercial spaces for small businesses and apartments for local residents. In my leisure time, I particularly enjoy genealogy (not a big surprise there!), traveling, and hiking. I look forward to welcoming you to my properties in Little Sweden USA!Location
